Communique of the ACP Group on Food security situation in the Horn of Africa

The ACP Group of States is deeply concerned with the deteriorating food security situation in the Horn of Africa.

This crisis has already claimed thousands of lives and is threatening the lives of more than 10 million people with many more at risk of starving to death if relief does not reach them in good time.

The ACP Group expresses solidarity with, and profound sympathy to, the Governments and peoples of the affected countries in the Region at the tragic loss of lives, livelihoods and human suffering, especially of women, children and the elderly.

Communiqué from the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States (ACP Group) following the coup d'etat and assassination attempt against President Alpha Condé, President of the Republic of Guinea

The ACP Group is shocked to learn of the attack on the residence of President Alpha Condé, President of the Republic of Guinea, by a group of soldiers on Tuesday 19 July 2011. The ACP Group firmly condemns this aborted coup d'etat and attempted assassination of the President of Guinea, and reiterates its rejection of accession to power by violence or unconstitutional means.

DECLARATION BY THE ACP GROUP OF STATES ON THE OCCASION OF THE 17th ANNIVERSARY OF THE 1994 GENOCIDE IN RWANDA

Seventeen years have now passed since the genocide that plunged Rwanda into mourning in 1994. Yet, that horrific period remains vividly etched in our collective memory and serves as a reminder to the international community of the need to remain vigilant in the face of the risk - that can never be completely discounted - of reliving similar tragedies fuelled solely by racial, ethnic or ideological differences.

1.On Tuesday 29 March 2011, consultations were held in Brussels between the Republic of Guinea-Bissau and the European Union, under Article 96 of the ACP-EU Cotonou Partnership Agreement.

The Committee of Ambassadors of the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group of States,

1.Having examined, during its 836th meeting on 27 January 2011, the current political situation in Côte d’Ivoire since the announcement of the results of the second round of the presidential election, which was held on 28 November 2010;

DECLARATION OF THE ACP-EU JOINT PARLIAMENTARY ASSEMBLY ON THE PROCLAMATION OF THE RESULTS OF THE 2ND ROUND OF THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION HELD IN COTE D’IVOIRE ON 28 NOVEMBER 2010

The ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly,

Meeting in Kinshasa (Democratic Republic of Congo) from 2 to 4 December 2010,

Having regard to the provisions of the Electoral Code of Côte d’Ivoire;

Having regard to the Code of Conduct for political parties, groupings,political movements and candidates in the elections in Côte d’Ivoire;

Considering the risk that any blunder in the electoral process could entail for the political and social balance acquired, with difficulty, in Côte d’Ivoire, and for the stability of the entire sub-region;

COMMUNIQUÉ OF THE EXTRA-ORDINARY SUMMIT OF SADC HEADS OF STATE AND GOVERNMENT

1.The Extra-Ordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) was held in Gaborone, Republic of Botswana on November 20, 2010 on the margins of the official opening of the SADC Headquarters.
2.The Extra-Ordinary Summit was chaired by His Excellency Hifikepunye Pohamba, President of the Republic of Namibia, and Chairperson of SADC.
3.The Extra-Ordinary Summit was attended by the following Heads of State and Government or their representatives:
