ACP-EU Culture Programme launches new idea incubator and exchange platform

Printer-friendly versionPDF version

Brussels, 9 May 2020/ACP:  Launched by the European Commission (EC) and the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) in the framework of the ACP-EU Culture programme, CultureXchange is an online platform which aims to be an incubator of ideas and projects and a hub where stakeholders from the cultural and creative sector can connect, meet, interact and exchange.

CultureXchange focuses on topics considered essential for the future of the cultural and creative sectors in the EU partner countries:  EU cultural policies, funding opportunities, collaborative schemes, challenges and aspirations faced by the sector in different parts of the world and more particularly in the African, Caribbean and Pacific countries.

The web platform contributes to shaping the future of culture through providing and relaying relevant information, ongoing reflections, studies, and projects from the private and public sectors. It offers its members an open space to share knowledge and skills, increase professional visibility, find partnerships, and seek funding.

Secretary-General of the OACPS, H.E. Georges Rebelo Pinto Chikoti hailed the new platform as, “A significant step towards facilitating access to a one-stop cultural information resource centre. The OACPS has an abundance of cultural and creative producers who stand to benefit greatly from the range and variety of supports offered by this platform.”

Also a social media platform, CultureXchange allows users to post topics, announcements, events, create discussion groups, contact colleagues and make friends. It also provides registered users with a specialized library space, where the main documentary resources regarding culture and creativity at EU and international level can be accessed and downloaded.

About ACP-EU Culture

Managed by the Organisation of the African, Caribbean and Pacific States and funded by the European Union, the “ACP-EU towards a viable cultural industry” Programme, ACP-EU CULTURE, endeavors to boost the potential of the cultural and creative sector and its contribution to the social and economic development of the ACP countries. The rogramme aims to encourage entrepreneurship and cultural innovation, create new jobs and increase artists’ and cultural professionals’ revenues. It also seeks to raise the quality of ACP cultural productions and valorize artists and creators from OACPS countries on regional and international markets.

ACP-EU Culture covers all cultural sectors, from cinema and audiovisual to tangible and intangible cultural heritage, and from crafts, fashion and design to visual and performing arts, literature, multimedia and digital creation.”
