Brussels, 17 February 2022/OACPS: In the framework of the 7th edition of the EU-Africa Business Forum (EABF), AgriFI, the European Union (EU)-funded Agriculture Financing Initiative in partnership with the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) and ElectrFI, the EU-funded Electrification Financing Initiative, hosted a signing ceremony and launch event on 16 February 2022.

Presenters at the side event included Carla Montesi, Jean-Louis Ville and Hans Stausboll of the Directorage-General for International Partnerships (DG INTPA), Escipión Oliveira GÓMEZ, Assistant Secretary-General of the OACPS, Idsert Boersma, Director Partnerships for Impact at FMO - Dutch Development Bank and Dominiek Deconinck, Chief Investment Officer at EDFI Management Company.

The Side Event was held to officially launch the new windows for AgriFI and ElectrFI. AgrFI will present three new country windows for Ghana, Sri Lanka and Tanzania and a regional window for Members of the OACPS. AgriFI’s overall budget for the initial Global window will be tripled from €40M to €120M, thereby responding to specific agri-market needs. The recent top-up to the ElectriFI Kenya Country Window now in place for €23M will allow the facility to reach an overall size of €280M.

During the InfoPoint session, to be held on 18 February 2022, the AgriFI Facility will be presented in more detail including information on the achievements to date. In particular, it will showcase the impact of two investments on local beneficiaries. It will also provide an opportunity to discuss the use of EU blending instruments to unlock, accelerate and leverage sustainable agriculture finance.
