Brussels, 11 October 2019/ ACP: The Secretary General of the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group of States on behalf of the ACP Group of States and the Secretariat, proudly salutes this great achievement of our dearly admired and courageous, Honourable Dr. Abiy Ahmed Ali, Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia for the outstanding contribution he has made to the cause of peace, freedom and justice for the people of Ethiopia, Eritrea, Sudan and South Sudan.

The award of the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize to Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed Ali makes us all in the ACP Group of States truly proud of this great example and inspiring leadership. It strongly beckons all of the African continent to encourage and enable the peoples of ethnic, cultural and religious communities to live in harmony as they strive for a truly meaningful and lasting peace.

The ACP Group of States shares in the happiness of our Ethiopian brothers and sisters wherever they are, and urges that they become true advocates and living examples of unity, harmony and solidarity in the continuing struggle to free the world from greed, injustice and violence, especially against innocent women, girls and boys, among the poor and dejected.

The tremendous achievement by Ethiopia and Eritrea to strive for lasting peace will forever serve to blaze a trail for freedom and the dignity of all persons everywhere.
