DECISION No. 13/CII/15 OF THE 102ND SESSION OF THE ACP COUNCIL OF MINISTERS

THE ACP ISSUES PAPER ON THE PARIS CLIMATE CHANGE CONFERENCE (COP21)
 
 
The ACP Council of Ministers,
 
- Meeting in Brussels, (Belgium), from 24th to 25th November 2015,
 
A. RECOGNIZING that the adverse impacts of climate change poses immediate and long-term significant risks to sustainable development and threatens the very survival of the 79 developing countries, including 48 from Africa, 16 from the Caribbean and 15 from the Pacific, that make up the ACP Group;
 
B. NOTING with grave concern that the resulting impacts of global temperature rise would disproportionately affect the Small Island Developing States, the Least Developed Countries and African countries; 
 
C. REAFFIRMING its commitment to ensuring a successful 2015 Paris Agreement;
 
D. TAKING INTO ACCOUNT the Report of the Committee of Ambassadors;
 
 
HEREBY DECIDES TO:
 
1. Welcome the efforts of the Committee of Ambassadors in preparing the ACP Group for the Paris Climate Change Conference (COP 21).
 
2. Endorse the ACP Issues paper on the Paris Climate Change Conference.
 
3. Mandate the ACP Group of States to continue its efforts to collaborate with like-minded Groups in supporting a strong and legally binding outcome in Paris and its implementation thereafter.
