Brussels, 1 August 2022/OACPS: GEOACT- one of the 12 initiatives financed by the ACP Innovation Fund,  has launched two calls for proposals to facilitate the collaboration between Research and Innovation (R&I) actors in living labs for solutions to climate change in the Caribbean. The deadline for submission of proposal is 31 August 2022.

GEOACT is implemented by a consortium of six partners: Research Institute for Development (IRD) - Project coordinator; Association of Caribbean States (ACS), Trinidad and Tobago; Caribbean Science Foundation (CSF), Barbados; Fondation FOKAL, Haiti; Sir Arthur Lewis Community College (SALCC), St. Lucia; and Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF), Haiti. This project has received funding from the European Union under the ACP Innovation Fund, which is part of the OACPS R&I Programme.

The general objective of GEOACT is to improve knowledge and understanding of R&I ecosystems at the national and regional levels and facilitate R&I interactions throughout the innovation chain, from user to scientist, to build up a shared R&I vision and strategy in the Caribbean Region. The focus is to support the collaboration of civil society organisations (CSOs), citizens, entrepreneurs, innovators, universities, research centers, regional organisations and public authorities in so-called ‘living labs’. Participants will have the opportunity to share research knowledge, explore digital and project development/management tools, and develop inclusive, smart and sustainable innovative solutions that will enable Caribbean countries to adapt to the effects of natural hazards and climate change.

In accordance with the objectives of the Project, the consortium is calling interested parties to submit their proposals in relation to two separate calls:
