Mme Nthisana Matlhongonolo Phillips
Nthisana Matlhongonolo Phillips who comes from Botswana was appointed Assistant Secretary-General for the Department of Administration, Finance and Human Resources in March 2010 and took-up her position on May 1 of the same year.
As Phillips over-sees the largest department in the Secretariat and as part of her mandate she manages the staff and facilitates the general organization of work at the ACP Secretariat; manages the Secretariat’s human, financial and material resources; and coordinate work within the Department as amongst her major responsibilities.
She joined the ACP Secretariat from the Botswana Insurance Fund Management, where she was the Deputy Chief Executive Officer. She previously spent three years (2004-2007) at the Allan Gray Botswana in Gaborone, where she served as the Managing Director. Prior to that she also worked at the Barclays Bank Botswana for two years after leaving the United Nations (1999-2002) where she served in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and New York, USA.
She holds Masters in Business Administration in Computer Information Systems from the Baruch College, City University of New York, USA; Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from the University of Botswana and; an Associate Diploma in Banking from the Botswana Institute of Bankers.
Mrs Phillips is a fluent English speaker and has superior writing skills. She has a fair working knowledge of French.
