Brussels, 15 October 2018 /ACP/: The African, Caribbean and Pacific Information Centre for South-South and Triangular Cooperation was inaugurated on 5 October 2018 in Malabo. The ceremony was presided over by The President of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea H.E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo and was attended by highly ranked personalities such as the Prime Minister, Members of the Government as well as Members of the Diplomatic Corps.

The ACP Group was represented by the Ambassador of Cameroon in Brussels, Chair of the Task Force on the Implementation of the Recommendation of the Ambassadorial Working Group on the Future Perspectives of the ACP Group, H.E Mr. Daniel Evina Abe’e accompanied by The Assistant Secretary General, Head of Macro-economic, Development Finance and Intra-ACP Programming, Mr Henrique A. Banze and the Expert on Global Economic and Financial Issues, Mr Bagnénou Lamien.

Ambassador Daniel Evina Abe’e, thanked the President of the Republic for his willingness to make the group an autonomous, independent organization in a better position to translate the aspirations of peoples into action. "We hope to continue to count on your leadership and generosity for the proper functioning of our group, which is responsible for putting into practice the aspirations of peace, security and welfare of our peoples," said Evina Abe’e.

For his part, H.E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, stated that "this Center is the manifestation of solidarity between the peoples and countries of the South in order to contribute to their autonomy and to the achievement of the internationally agreed development goals, especially those related to the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development.

One of the objectives of this Center is to promote the South-South market, since there are ACP countries that have excellent products without fair markets. Similarly, there are countries that buy products at prices above their natural value."

The launching of the ACP Centre is an important political event for the ACP Group both for its uniqueness in being the first ever representation of ACP Group in a Member State and for being a milestone in the promotion and implementation of South-South and Triangular Cooperation.
