Short-term experts on Climate Change and Sustainable Development

The African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States (ACP) is an international organisation created 1975 and headquartered in Brussels, Belgium.  It compromises of 48 countries from Sub-Saharan Africa, 16 from the Caribbean and 15 from the Pacific.

The Intra-ACP GCCA+ Programme is an initiative of the ACP Group of States funded by the 11th European Development Fund (EDF), in the context of the wider Global Climate Change Alliance+ (GCCA+) flagship programme. The Programme, managed by the ACP Secretariat in Brussels, has two components: (i) regional programmes; and (ii) a service contract providing institutional support to the ACP Secretariat and demand-driven technical assistance services.

The Programme’s overall objective is to increase the resilience of ACP regions and countries to climate change and achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in particular Goal 13: "Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts”, in order to alleviate poverty and promote sustainable development.

Its specific objective is to strengthen the capacities of ACP regions and countries to undertake regional and national adaptation and mitigation actions in response to the challenges caused by the impacts of climate change.

The ACP Secretariat is looking to build an ACP Experts Pool, a database of highly qualified and dynamic key experts interested in working on climate change and sustainable development, as short-term consultants. Selected candidates will be placed in the database and may be contacted as the need for a key expert in his/her functional area and level arises.

The ACP Secretariat will engage experts under individual contracts to work on short-term projects as an individual consultant or a consortium, under deliverables focusing on analysis, advice and recommendations. The location of assignments will vary for each ACP Group of States.

The Secretariat now invites applicants from ACP Countries and Regions to send their applications to: ACP Secretariat, 451 Avenue Georges Henri, 1200 Brussels- Belgium, or email to: intra-acp-gccaplus@acp.int no later than 30 August 2018.
