The Programme developed TORs for a technical study with the following deliverables, (a) numerate current trends in carbon footprint and organic standards and their links to trade in the context of the WTO Doha negotiations, a potential post-Bali Work Programme and the green economy initiative under the Rio+ 20 outcome; (b) analyse the process for defining and setting frameworks for international standards on carbon footprint and organic products; (c) assess how these two sets of standards are currently affecting major ACP exports; (d) explore additional environment-related standard setting processes affecting ACP interests that may require further attention and research; and (e) outline a series of lessons and options for ACP countries on how to manage standard setting for carbon footprint and organics in context of the WTO Doha negotiations and post-Bali Work Programme and the green economy initiative.
