The Secretariat of the ACP Group of States has the following vacant posts of the General Services Category at the Secretariat:

DRIVER – GRADE GS 1
MAIN DUTIES:
 
Under the supervision of the Expert in charge of General Administration, the Utility
Driver shall:

  1. Drive the ACP utility vehicle for the purposes of delivering and collecting mail, documents and other items as appropriate.
  2. Transport official personnel, staff members, visitors, consultants as requested by the supervisor.
  3. Be responsible for the day to day maintenance of the assigned vehicle, check oil, water, battery, brakes, tyres etc., ensuring that it is in good running order and in a clean condition.
  4. Arranges for the repair of the vehicle as and when appropriate.
  5. Whenever required, log official trips, daily km reading, gas consumption, oil changes, greasing, etc.
  6. Ensure that the steps required by local legislation, rules and regulations are followed with regard to motor vehicle insurance, road traffic accidents, motor vehicle break downs and “control technique”.
  7. Submit quarterly reports on the physical condition of the vehicle assigned to the Driver.
  8. Perform other duties as may be assigned.

 NB: The Utility Driver must possess a valid Driver’s license of the country of recruitment.
 
     REQUISITE QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. General Certificate Education - Ordinary level only;
  2. At least 3 years of relevant working experience. A good knowledge of Brussels would be an added advantage;
  3. Good command of English, French, Spanish or Portuguese. A working knowledge of one of the other 3 would be an added advantage.

 
CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
 
In conformity with Article 9 of the Staff Regulations, staff members of the Professional and General Services categories are appointed by the Secretary-General on the recommendation of the Recruitment Advisory Committee chaired by the Assistant Secretary-General, Head of the Department of Administration, Finance and Human Resources.

In the framework of their functions, members of staff are governed by the Staff Regulations of the Secretariat (ACP/41/050/11 Rev.1) and by any other decision that may be adopted by the competent ACP authorities regarding employment.
