| SG welcomes Zakumi to ACP House
ACP PRESS RELEASE: 27 APRIL 2009: ACP Secretary General Sir John Kaputin welcomed Zakumi (2010 World Cup Mascot) at the ACP House as it was paraded in Brussels as part of the promotion of the 2010 World Cup to be held in South Africa. The historical event also allowed the staff of the ACP Secretariat to join the early celebrations. In the course of the parade, Sir John signed a soccer ball to commemorate Zakumi’s visit to the ACP Secretariat. The Secretary-General in welcoming Zakumi expressed full support for South Africa in its preparations and eventual hosting of the event next year. It is the first time that an ACP country will host the competition and Sir John expressed well wishes to South Africa. The Football World Cup is regarded as one of the greatest sporting events in the world and will be the first time it is hosted outside Europe, America and Asia.
