Brussels, 3 June 2020/OACPS: In the last week, the world was again rocked by incidences of racial discrimination and violence, notably the death of Mr. George Floyd in Minneapolis, United States of America. On behalf of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), I extend my deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those affected by these events.
Historic OACPS Inter-Sessional Summit to address risks arising from COVID-19 pandemic and find solutions going forward
Brussels, 03 June 2020/OACPS: Secretary-General, H.E. Georges Rebelo Pinto Chikoti, in a pre-Summit interview today spoke of the importance of the Extraordinary Inter-sessional Summit being convened by the President-in-Office of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) and President of the Republic of Kenya, H.E. Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta. “COVID-19 makes the possibility of a macro-financial crisis in OACPS Members very likely. OACPS countries must find between US $ 50 and 60 billion this year and much more in 2021 to meet their international obligations, in a context of foreign currency shortages.
OACPS Hosts First-Ever Inter-Sessional Summit on Transending COVID-19 Pandemic
Brussels, 29 May 2020/OACPS: The President-in-Office of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) and President of the Republic of Kenya, H.E. Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta, will convene the first-ever Extraordinary Inter-Sessional Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the OACPS on 3 June 2020. The virtual Summit, which is hosted by the OACPS, aims to assess the current global COVID-19 situation, and in particular, the effects and consequences to the members of the OACPS. In addition, members will identify opportunities for global solidarity and action.

OACPS Summit President Calls for Solidarity among OACPS to address COVID-19 challenges

Mr. Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta, President of the Republic of Kenya and President-in-Office of the Summit of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), in a recent message addressed to OACPS Heads of State and Government, called for solidarity among all OACPS to address the unprecedented COVID-19 challenges. OACPS Programme Steering Committee calls for the Agri-Business Capital Fund to expand to the Caribbean and Pacific regions
Brussels, 12 May 2020/ACP: In light of the current performance of the Agri-Business Capital Fund (ABC Fund) launched in February 2019, stakeholders have proposed an expansion of the Fund to the Caribbean and Pacific Regions of the OACPS which are currently not served by the Fund.
High-level international teams stress key role for OACPS to further exchanges and learning on indigenous peoples and local knowledge in the context of climate change
Brussels, 12 May 2020/ACP: During a webinar on 29 April 2020, 50 participants including high-level representatives of international organisations working in the area of Local and Indigenous Knowledge (LIK) and Climate Change agreed to collaborate to further exchanges and joint learning on indigenous people and local knowledge in the context of climate change. In so doing, they also underscored the key role of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) in this regard.
OACPS Secretary-General condemns unilateral addition of seven more OACPS Members to the latest EU Blacklist

Mr. Georges Rebelo Pinto Chikoti today denounced, in no uncertain terms, the unilateral publication of the European Union's (EU) black list on money laundering which implicates an additional seven OACPS Members.
