ACP-EU Commodities Programme

Launched in 2015, the ACP-EU Commodities Programme (CP) is designed to improve the competitiveness of small producers engaged in the cocoa, coconut and root/tubers value chains through regional integration of markets and the intensification of production. The programme also seeks to encourage greater access to value chain information services and finance, as well as to risk management instruments, particularly as regards climate and market risks.
The implementation of the Commodities Programme is entrusted to three international organizations, and one national development cooperation institution (GIZ):
- Deutsche Gesellschaft für Inter-nationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) - Cocoa
- Food & Agriculture Organisation (FAO) - Roots & Tubers
- International Trade Centre (ITC), in collaboration with the Caribbean Agricultural Research and Development Institute (CARDI) - Coconuts Caribbean region
- Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) - Coconuts Pacific region
The geographic coverage and budgets of the four programme components are indicated in Table 1 below.

The programme benefits directly to some 36 ACP countries, and is due to be completed in 2019. It has yielded significant results, which can be seen under dedicated websites developed by the implementing agencies:
