The OACPS Geneva Office
The OACPS Geneva Office formerly known as the ACP Geneva Office was established initially in December 2001 as a project funded by the European Union to assist the ACP Group in its negotiations with the WTO relating to trade matters. It now has a more permanent status and has widened its mandate.
The Mandate of the OACPS Geneva Office is to:
- Represent the Secretary-General of the OACPS at meetings organized by the Geneva-based United Nations Organisations, WTO and other Institutions;
- Facilitate coordination among the Representatives of members of the OACPS in Geneva and, through the Secretariat; act as an intermediary between their OACPS counterparts in Brussels.
- Provide technical assistance to members of the OACPS with regard to issues dealt with in Geneva, particularly those relating to Doha negotiations under WTO;
- Perform duties relating to administration and finance in connection with the functions of the OACPS Geneva Office.
